Colgate beats American University 59-43

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Austin Tillotson scored 15 points as Colgate beat American University 59-43 on Saturday.

Tillotson did it on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including three from beyond the arc. Matt McMullen added 14 points and six rebounds for the Raiders (11-14, 8-4 Patriot League). Ethan Jacobs and Luke Roh had nine points apiece. The team hit 51.1 percent from the field overall and made 8 of 16 from 3-point range.

Colgate jumped to a 17-3 lead early with the help of a pair of on 3-pointers by Tillotson and another by McMullen. American University made just five field goals in the first period and the Raiders led 34-14 at the break.

McMullen sank two more from distance early in the second half and the Raiders were up 42-21 with 14:59 to play. From there, they cruised to the win.

Jesse Reed led the Eagles (13-11, 6-6) with nine points.
