YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Karrington Ward scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan to a 71-62 win over Youngstown State in the Eastern Michigan Showcase on Friday night.
Anali Okoloji and Raven Lee added 16 points apiece for Eastern Michigan (3-0). Okoloji and Lee combined to make 11 of 17 (64.7 percent) field goals, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. The rest of the team shot 25.7 percent from the floor and 23.5 percent from behind the arc.
Marcus Keene hit a 3 with 11:58 left, giving Youngstown State (1-3) a 50-48 lead.
Mike Talley hit a pair of free throws and Ward made a 3-pointer to start a 12-4 run which gave Eastern Michigan a 60-54 lead with 5:59 to play.
Youngstown State, which made 4 of 15 shots and committed four turnovers after Keene's 3, trailed the rest of the way.
