Toledo hangs on, beats Cleveland State 59-54
CLEVELAND -- J.D. Weatherspoon scored 16 points and Justin Drummond had 14 to help Toledo to a 59-54 victory over Cleveland State on Wednesday night.
Toledo led by as many as 18 points with 13:14 remaining before Cleveland State hit four treys and Anton Grady scored on a dunk-all within 50 seconds- to pull within 57-54 with 11 seconds to play. Jonathan Williams made a pair of free throws to stretch Toledo's lead to 59-54. Trey Lewis couldn't connect on a 3-pointer at the four-second mark to seal it for Toledo.
Jonathan Williams added 11 points and Julius Brown nine with five assists for Toledo (3-4).
Lewis scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Cleveland State (3-4). Charlie Lee hit three 3-pointers and had nine points for the Vikings, who shot 10 of 28 from long range for 35.7 percent.
