Miami (Ohio) edges UMKC 66-61
OXFORD, Ohio -- Eric Washington scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Miami (Ohio) to a 66-61 win over the University of Missouri Kansas City on Saturday.
Washington did it with 8-of-10 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 shooting from the line. Geovonie McKnight added eight points and five assists for the Redhawks (5-8). Zach McCormick and Rod Mills scored seven apiece.
The Redhawks trailed early in the first period but rallied to lead 15-13 on a 3-pointer by Mills with 9:19 left in the half. They led 26-24 at the break.
Washington sank one from distance to put the Redhawks up 44-35 early in the second half before UMKC battled back to within four on an 8-3 run with 7:25 left. But the Kangaroos (5-11) could not get closer.
Reese Holliday had 14 points with seven rebounds and three assists for the Kangaroos.
