Akron pulls away to beat Ohio 70-58
AKRON, Ohio -- Antino Jackson scored 13 points, Isaiah Johnson added 12 and Akron celebrated its senior night with a 70-58 victory over Ohio on Friday night.
The Zips (18-11, 9-7 Mid-American) used a 13-2 run midway through the second half to stretch a two-point lead to 55-42 with 7:04 left. Ohio (9-18, 4-12) never threatened from there.
Jackson and Reggie McAdams both shot 3 of 7 from 3-point range and Akron was 11 of 28. McAdams finished with 11 points.
Antonio Campbell had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats, who tied Akron at 35-all but never led in the second half to lose their six straight. Maurice Daly Ndour and Javarez Willis added 13 points apiece.
Ohio opened with a 7-0 lead and stayed in front for most of the first half. The Zips closed the period on a 7-2 run to lead 27-23.
