Wright State rallies past SC-Upstate 56-51
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- JT Yoho scored 17 points and Joe Thomasson added 11 with five assists as Wright State edged SC-Upstate 56-51 in the closer of the Spartanburg Marriott Upstate Classic on Saturday night.
It was the first win in three tourney games for the Raiders (4-3), who trailed 25-18 with 6:09 left in the first half. Wright State launched a 22-4 run from that point into the second half -- SC-Upstate making just one field goal over the next 15 minutes. The long rally included a 14-1 start to the second half, sprinting to a 40-29 lead.
The Spartans (5-2), who made just 8 of 25 shots after halftime, clawed back to 52-49 with 1:32 remaining. Yoho and Thomasson each hit two free throws in the last 20 seconds. The Raiders hit just 5 of 6 free throws but drained 9 3-pointers.
Fred Miller led SC-Upstate with 19 points and three steals.
