Stetson holds on to beat Florida A&M 65-60
DELAND, Fla. -- Grant Lozoya scored 18 points as Stetson gave up a double-digit lead but managed to hold on and beat Florida A&M 65-60 on Saturday afternoon.
Stetson (5-10) held its largest lead of the game, 44-27, with 11:59 to go. The Rattlers climbed back after Jermaine Ruttley and Jorge Rosa combined for 25-straight Florida A&M points, closing within five with 2:32 left.
The Hatters went 6 of 9 from the free-throw line to end it.
Lozoya was 5 of 10 from the floor and 6 of 9 on free throws. Kentwan Smith added 10 points and seven rebounds for Stetson, which combined for 41.1-percent shooting (23 of 56).
Ruttley scored 24 points and finished with 13 rebounds for Florida A&M (0-13). Rosa added 15 points. The Rattlers shot 23.1 percent in the opening half and improved to 37.3 percent by game's end.
