Comer, Thompson lead FGCU over Jacksonville 79-50
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Brett Comer scored 25 points, Bernard Thompson added 17 and Florida Gulf Coast pulled away in the second half for a 79-50 win over Jacksonville on Saturday night.
Florida Gulf Coast (12-7, 2-1 Atlantic Sun) had a 28-6 run and led 69-39 with 7:30 to go after Jacksonville scored the first five points of the second half to close within eight.
Jacksonville (7-13, 1-2) led by three with 6:29 left in the first half, but FGCU closed the period with a 19-3 run to lead 41-28.
Julian DeBose added nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Comer went 4 for 5 from 3-point range, Thompson went 4 for 4 and the Eagles were 11 of 20 as a team.
Andris Misters had 19 points and Kori Babineaux 15 for the Dolphins. Those two were a combined 13 of 25 from the field, but Jacksonville was just 17 of 49 overall.
