KENNESAW, Ga. -- Julian DeBose and Jamail Jones scored 12 points apiece and Bernard Thompson chipped in 11 as Florida Gulf Coast topped Kennesaw State 54-48 on Saturday.
Both teams shot under 26 percent in the first half, and the Eagles led 20-19 at intermission. The second half saw 12 lead changes and two ties, with Kennesaw State up 42-41 after Damien Wilson hit a jumper with 5:25 left to play. The Owls shot 2 of 10 in the remaining minutes, getting all of their final six points from Yonel Brown. FGCU went 8 of 8 at the line to end it.
Jones, who shot just 5 of 16 from the floor, led all players with 10 rebounds. The Eagles (14-7, 4-1 Atlantic-Sun) were 2 of 18 from distance.
