SC Upstate beats North Florida 79-74
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Ty Greene scored a career-high 39 points, hitting a career-best 8 of 11 3-pointers, and SC Upstate rallied to beat Northern Florida 79-74 on Saturday, ending the Ospreys' seven-game winning streak.
Fred Miller added 15 points, Michael Buchanan grabbed 11 rebounds, and the Spartans (16-7, 4-3 Atlantic Sun) shot 10 of 20 from distance.
North Florida led 46-38 at halftime, but the Spartans rallied in the second half, tying it at 56 on a jumper by ShunQuez Stephens, then pulling away 73-64 after a 10-0 run in which Greene hit two 3s. Chris Davenport and Beau Beech each hit a 3 to pull North Florida within 75-72 with 2:15 left, then Dallas Moore hit a jumper to make it a one-point game, but Jacob Schute hit a layup with 15 seconds left and Greene added two free throws for the win.
Beech led North Florida (14-10, 6-1) with 23, Trent Mackey had 12 and Moore 10.
