Big 1st half lets SC Upstate rout Stetson, 73-54
DELAND, Fla. -- Fred Miller pumped in 15 of his 17 points in the first half to spark South Carolina Upstate to a 73-54 rout of Stetson on Thursday night.
The Spartans (20-8, 7-4 Atlantic Sun) took control of the game four minutes into the first half and built a 13-point lead at intermission en route to their 20th win of the season. Josh Cuthbertson got to the basket for a layup to give SC Upstate the lead, 8-6, and Miller knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 14-7 and the Spartans never looked back.
Five players reached double-figure scoring for SC Upstate. Cuthbertson and Ty Greene each scored 14 points. ShunQuez Stephens added 12 points and Jacob Schulte chipped in 10.
Stetson (8-19, 2-9) got 16 points from Divine Myles. Grant Lozoya and Kentwan Smith added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
