Paulos cuts loose for 20 as UNC-Greensboro beats VMI 85-56
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Nicholas Paulos scored 20 points, his most since late November, and Marvin Smith added a career-high 14 off the bench as North Carolina-Greensboro walloped VMI 85-56 on Tuesday night.
Paulos hit 7 of 10 from the field including three 3-pointers in five attempts. Smith added a pair of 3-pointers and was a perfect 4 of 4 from the foul line. Jordy Kuiper added a career-high 12 points on 5 of 5 shooting.
The margin of victory was the largest for UNC-Greensboro (7-17, 3-8) in Southern Conference play since beating the Citadel by 30 in December, 2012. The Spartans also held VMI, the SoCon's top-scoring team, to a season low in points on 22-percent shooting (16-72).
Brian Brown topped the Keydets (8-15, 4-8) with 16 points, the only VMI player to reach double figures.
The Spartans outscored VMI 38-12 in the paint and 15-5 off turnovers.
