Youngstown State defeats Longwood 82-72
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- D.J. Cole had 18 points, 12 assists and a pair of late free throws to lead Youngstown State to an 82-72 win over Longwood on Saturday.
Shawn Amiker had 18 points, Bobby Hain had 15 and 12 rebounds, and Jalon Plummer added 13 for the Penguins (2-3).
Lotanna Nwogbo tallied 16 points and eight rebounds and Shaquille Johnson added 16 points for the Lancers (2-2).
Jalon Plummer scored seven points during a 15-3 run by Youngstown State to close out the first half up 40-33.
Youngstown State went on a 17-3 run in the second half, which included 14 points from Amiker to put the Penguins up 63-46. Capped by five straight points from Quincy Taylor, Longwood close within five with 6:08 remaining. The Penguins held on thanks to late free throws from Hain, Cole and Marcus Keene.
