Radford sails by Liberty, 84-76
RADFORD, Va. -- Javonte Green scored 24 points, added five rebounds and a season high four steals, and Radford beat Liberty 84-76 on Saturday.
Ya Ya Anderson finished with 17 points, and R.J. Price added 14 points and seven assists for the Highlanders (14-7, 5-3 Big South), who have won five straight following a three game skid.
Liberty shot 51.1 percent from the field to 43.5 percent for Radford but the Highlanders hit 13 3-pointers on 28 attempts and held the Flames to three. Radford also grabbed 17 offensive rebounds and forced 22 Liberty turnovers.
The Highlanders closed the first half on an 11-3 run to lead 44-36 and added a 16-2 stretch to open the second, capped off by an Anderson 3-pointer.
Theo Johnson scored 19 points and added nine rebounds to lead Liberty (6-15, 0-8), which closed the gap late but couldn't get over the hump.
