Wallace leads High Point past Liberty, 72-53
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Devante Wallace hit 5 of 7 3-pointers and scored 19 points to help High Point beat Liberty 72-53 and move to 8-2 in Big South Conference play for the first time in program history on Thursday night.
Adam Weary added 17 points and Jorge Perez-Laham scored 12 for High Point (17-5, 8-2), which made a season-high 11 3-point shots.
Wallace, who moved into a fourth-place tie on the school's career list for 3-pointers made with 163, scored eight during a 16-1 run that gave High Point a 55-33 lead with 8:18 left.
Liberty (6-16, 0-9), which lost its ninth straight and hasn't won since beating NAIA-member Cincinnati Christian on Dec. 28, trailed by at least 19 the rest of the way.
Theo Johnson led the Flames, which made just 5 of 19 (26 percent) from 3-point range, with 12 points.
