Joesaar leads Texas-Pan American to 66-60 win over Lamar
EDINBURG, Texas -- Janari Joesaar had a career-high 29 points to lead Texas-Pan American to a 66-60 win over Lamar on Saturday night.
Shaquille Boga added 19 points and five assists for Texas-Pan American (5-4) which had lost four of its last five games prior to this win.
Texas-Pan American held a 29-22 lead at the half but Lamar's full court press flustered the Broncs and the Cardinals closed to 33-31 with 15:24 remaining. The Broncs settled down and made a 14-3 run to lead 47-34 midway of the second half. Lamar answered with a 15-3 run to close to 50-49 at the 6:53 mark. Joesaar responded with a free throw and layup and Boga nailed a 3-pointer and UTPA (5-4) coasted to the win.
Donovan Ross had 17 points and Tyran de Lattibeaudiere chipped in 14 for Lamar (2-6).
