New Mexico St. wins WAC opener, 63-45 over UMKC
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Pascal Siakam had 10 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, and New Mexico State coasted to a 63-45 victory over Missouri-Kansas City in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday night.
Remi Barry scored 15 points, Ian Baker had 12 and DK Eldridge chipped in 11 for New Mexico State (9-9, 1-0).
Baker scored nine points and Eldridge added seven in the first half to help the Aggies build a 33-14 halftime lead. New Mexico State led by as many as 21 points, and never trailed on its way to a season high four-game winning streak.
Matt Taylor grabbed eight boards and Barry had seven as the Aggies outrebounded the Kangaroos 39-25.
Martez Harrison scored 12 points and was the only player in double figures for UMKC (5-13, 0-1).
