Harvard edges UMass 75-73
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wesley Saunders scored 27 points as Harvard edged Massachusetts 75-73 on Saturday.
Sanders did it shooting 10 of 16 from the field, 5 of 8 from the line and 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. Kenyatta Smith added 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for the Crimson (4-1). Zena Edosomwan chipped in with eight points and five rebounds. The team hit 50.8 percent from the field.
Harvard trailed 38-32 at the break but rallied in the second period, starting with a 13-7 run to tie it 45-45 with 16:31 remaining. The Crimson went ahead for good on a pair of free throws by Saunders with under a minute to play and the Minutemen's Trey Davis missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
Davis and Cady Lalanne scored 13 points apiece for the Minutemen (5-2).
