Yale beats Hartford 69-57
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Justin Sears scored 14 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots and Yale held off a second-half surge by Hartford to win 69-57 on Sunday, ending the Hawks' five-game winning streak.
Jack Montague scored 13 points, Javier Duren 11, Matt Townsend added 10, and the Bulldogs (6-2) out-rebounded the Hawks 43-32.
Taylor Dyson led Hartford (5-2) with 13 points and Yolonzo Moore II scored 11.
The lead changed hands 11 times in the first half before Montague hit a jumper with 10 seconds to play to put Yale up 27-25 at halftime.
Yale opened the second half with a 13-0 run in which Montague hit back-to-back 3-pointers, then used an 8-2 run to lead 48-29 on a free throw by Townsend. Dyson hit a 3 for the Hawks, sparking a 13-2 run to pull within eight, 55-47, but Yale scored seven free throws in the final 2:11 for the win.
