Incarnate Word Cardinals @ UTEP Miners
UTEP rolls over Incarnate Word 81-65
EL PASO, Texas -- Vince Hunter and Earvin Morris combined for 30 points to lead UTEP to an 81-65 victory over Incarnate Word on Monday night.
Hunter, who made 7 of 9 from the floor for 16 points, also pulled down 12 rebounds. Morris had 14 points and Lew Stallworth added 13 as the hot-shooting Miners made 33 of 51 field goal attempts (64.7 percent).
UTEP (5-3) ran out to a 30-13 lead in the first half and was up 40-29 at the break. The Miners opened the second period with a 7-1 run. The Cardinals answered with a 9-0 run to close to 48-39, but could get no closer and the Miners led 65-46 with 9:23 left.
UTEP won the rebound battle 47 to 23 and outscored the Cardinals in the paint 48-18.
The Cardinals (5-1), losing for the first time this season, were led by Jontrell Walker's career-high 30 points.
