Western Kentucky beats North Texas 65-59
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- T.J. Price scored 19 points, George Fant added 14 with 16 rebounds, and Western Kentucky held off North Texas 65-59 on Thursday night.
Fant has scored in double figures in twelve straight games for Western Kentucky (16-6, 9-1 Conference USA).
Armani Flannigan hit two buckets and a free throw and North Texas led 7-4, but the Hilltoppers pulled ahead on a 14-1 run, then led 27-12 after a layup by Fant. Price scored 13 points in the half and the Hilltoppers led 34-25 at intermission.
The Mean Green gained ground on a 14-10 second-half run, then led 47-46 on a jumper by Jordan Williams. The lead traded hands three more times before Trency Jackson hit a 3 for a 60-59 Hilltoppers lead with 3:02 left, and Western Kentucky finished with five unanswered points.
Flannigan scored 14 for North Texas (9-12, 3-6) and Williams added 13.
