North Texas cruises to 81-65 win over Charlotte
DENTON, Texas -- Jordan Williams and DeAndre Harris scored 17 points apiece and North Texas rolled to an 81-65 victory over Charlotte on Thursday night.
North Texas (14-13, 8-7 Conference USA) has won five straight, and is tied with Middle Tennessee (15-13, 8-7) for sixth in the conference.
Maurice Aniefiok added 15 points and T.J. Taylor 11 for the Mean Green, who shot 54 percent from the floor and 56 percent from long range.
The Mean Green opened the game on a 28-11 run and led 41-28 at the break before the 49ers pulled with 45-34 with 16:27 to play. North Texas answered with a 15-4 surge to stretch its lead to 20 points midway through the second half and cruised from there.
Terrence Williams scored 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting, and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Charlotte (12-16, 5-10). Torin Dorn chipped in 11 points for the 49ers.
