Boise State downs San Diego State 61-46
BOISE, Idaho -- Derrick Marks scored 19 points, and Boise State hit 10 3-point goals to down San Diego State 61-46 on Sunday.
The Broncos (17-6, 7-3 Mountain West) won their seventh consecutive game and beat the Aztecs (18-6, 8-3) for just the second time in history.
Boise State never trailed. The Broncos drained eight first-half 3-pointers to build a 17-point lead (27-10) and owned a 30-18 halftime edge.
San Diego State used a 10-0 run early in the second half to pull within 34-30 with 14:55 left, but the Broncos got back-to-back 3-pointers from Rob Heyer and James Webb III, who finished with 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds. The Aztecs, who saw their three-game winning streak snapped, never got closer.
J.J. O'Brien led SDSU with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Winston Shepard scored 12 points. The Aztecs outrebounded Boise State 37-28 but made only 2 of 19 from 3-point range.
Marks scored eight of his points from the foul line in the final 2:30. Boise State made 15 of 19 free throws, all of which came in the final 10 minutes.

San Diego State: The loss dropped the Aztecs into a first-place tie with Wyoming in the Mountain West. SDSU lost the turnover battle 13-6. San Diego State is unbeaten (13-0) when forcing more turnovers than it commits. Aqeel Quinn, the leading scorer, was held to five points on 2 of 10 shooting. O'Brien's double-double was his third of the season. The Aztecs had only six assists.
Boise State: Derrick Marks moved into third place on the school's all-time scoring list. The senior guard now has 1,706 career points. He passed Coby Karl (1,698) and trails only Steve Connor (1,927) and Tanoka Beard (1,944). The crowd of 10,511 was the largest of the season. Senior reserve forward Jake Ness did not dress due to a foot injury sustained in practice. He is the sixth player this season to miss a game because of an injury. Boise State's seventh consecutive conference win matched a school record, which happened three times during the Broncos' tenure in the Big Sky Conference, which ended in 1996.
