Ashe, Mount St. Mary's beat Bryant 75-68
EMMITSBURG, Md. -- Byron Ashe scored 20 of his career-high 24 points in the first half when Mount St. Mary's took a seven-point lead and the Mountaineers made it stand up for a 75-68 victory over Bryant on Saturday.
The Mountaineers led 38-31 at halftime. They built their lead to as many 12 in the second half before the Bulldogs rallied, getting within 67-62 on Dyami Starks' basket with 3:02 remaining. Gregory Graves made a put-back dunk to get the lead back to seven with 1:32 remaining. From there, seven free throws, including five by Junior Robinson, countered a pair of Bryant 3-pointers.
The loss left Bryant (12-13, 9-5) in a second-place tie with Robert Morris in the Northeast Conference. The Mountaineers (12-13, 8-6) are a game back in a three-way tie.
Graves added 12 points for the Mountaineers.
Starks led Bryant with 18 points. Dan Garvin added 16 and Bosko Kostur 15.
