Wagner beats Central Connecticut 86-55
NEW YORK -- Marcus Burton scored 21 and reached 1,000 career points on his final 3-pointer Saturday as Wagner beat Central Connecticut State 86-55.
The Seahwawks (8-13, 6-4 Northeast Conference) jumped ahead 23-8, led by 18 points at halftime and extended to their largest lead 86-51 with 1:17 left.
Burton's final points came with 2:46 left, making him the 42nd member of the Seahawks 1,000-point club. Mike Aaman had 13 points and eight rebounds while Corey Henson and Romone Saunders added 11 points each.
Faronte Drakeford scored a career-high 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Blue Devils (3-20, 1-9), who have lost 13 of 14.
Wagner was only 6 of 25 from behind the arc but Central Connecticut made none of its six 3-point attempts. The Seahawks outrebounded CCSU 54-32.
