Farleigh Dickinson holds off late CCSU rally 73-66
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Marques Townes scored 16 points off the bench and Farleigh Dickinson added 13 at the foul line in the last 3:09 to fend off Central Connecticut State 73-66 Saturday.
Farleigh Dickinson (8-21, 3-15 Northeast) led by 14 when Mustafaa Jones hit a 3-pointer with 8:44 to play, and again when Earl Potts Jr. added a 3-pointer to counter a CCSU trey.
Central Connecticut State (5-26, 3-15) chipped away with a 12-3 run and came as close as 60-55 with 3:34 to go after Greg Andrade converted a three-point play. CCSU began fouling but the Knights hit seven of the next eight free throws.
CCSU closed to 67-63 when Khalen Cumberlander scored with 1:16 remaining, but the Knights went 6 of 8 to seal it.
Andrade scored 15 points with 17 boards, his first career double-double in his final game. Matt Mobley led with 18 points.
Potts added 14 for Farleigh Dickinson.
