Wagner sneaks past Fairleigh Dickinson, 83-79 OT
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Marcus Burton scored 31 points, including 12 of 14 at the free throw line, to help lead Wagner past Fairleigh Dickinson 83-79 in OT on Saturday.
After a Matt MacDonald layup gave Fairleigh Dickinson a 75-74 lead with 1:31 to play in overtime, Wagner scored 8 of the games next 10 points, including six straight by Mike Aaman to open up a five point lead with nine seconds left. A Darian Anderson layup cut the lead back to three for the Knights, but they got no closer.
Aaman finished with a career best 20 points, hitting 12 of his 18 free throw attempts, and 23 rebounds for the Seahawks (9-16, 7-7 Northeast Conference), who hit 36 of 48 overall at the line.
MacDonald led the Knights (7-18, 2-12) with 14 points. They have lost nine straight to Wagner and 11 overall.
