FULLERTON, Calif. -- Mike Caffey scored 18 points and keyed a second-half run to lead Long Beach State over Western Michigan 73-55 on Thursday night in the Wooden Legacy.
The 49ers (3-3) trailed by five with 8 minutes left when they went on a 16-0 run that included five consecutive free throws and Caffey's rally-capping 3-pointer. After a pair of free throws by Western Michigan's Connor Tava, the 49ers finished on a 11-2 run.
Tyler Lamb added 14 points for the 49ers.
