RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Corey Hawkins scored 26 points on Thursday and UC Davis never trailed in its 74-61 win over UC Riverside to remain unbeaten in Big West Conference play.

The Aggies (13-3, 3-0) got nine points apiece from Avery Johnson and Darius Graham.

Jaylen Bland scored a career-high 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting for the Highlanders (8-9, 1-2), including 7 of 11 from distance, and Steven Thornton added 10.

UC Davis led 15-8 after a 3 by Tyler Les, then used an 11-2 run to build a 33-21 halftime lead. The Aggies outshot the Highlanders 47.8 percent to 26.9 percent before intermission, and UC Riverside missed all nine of its shots from 3-point range.

Bland scored 10 straight points midway through the second half to make it a four-point game, 51-47, but the Highlanders got no closer. The Aggies replied with a 12-4 run and led 63-51 with 4:46 left, then outshot the Highlanders 10-9 in the final 3:15.
