Nwaba with 19; Cal Poly beats CS Fullerton 67-55
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- David Nwaba scored 19 points, Joel Awich chipped in 17 and Cal Poly beat Cal State Fullerton 67-55 on Thursday night.
Nwaba was 6 of 9 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. Awich finished on 8-of-16 shooting and had four blocks. Brian Bennett knocked down all five of his field goals on his way to 13 points for Cal Poly (9-8, 2/3 Big West).
Cal Poly opened the second half on a 13-2 run and never trailed after intermission. Alex Harris hit a 3-pointer to pull Cal State Fullerton within 53-48 with 5:25 to play. A 9-2 surge by the Mustangs stretched their lead back to double digits with 1:47 left.
Steve McClellan had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Titans (8-11, 0-4), and was the only Cal State Fullerton player to reach double digits.
