UC Riverside beats CS Fullerton 71-66 in OT
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Taylor Johns slammed it home in the final seconds of overtime to seal a 71-66 win for UC Riverside over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night.
Johns' dunk came with seven seconds on the clock in the overtime period. A minute earlier, he had given his team the lead for good on 2-of-2 shooting from the free throw line.
Johns netted a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Highlanders (11-12, 4-5 Big West Conference). Jayel Bland was the scoring leader with 25 points.
UC Riverside led 37-29 after the first half but CS Fullerton went 18-2 to take a 49-46 lead with 6:43 to play in regulation. The Highlanders came back to lead 59-57 with 31 second left and the Titans' Alex Harris sank two from the line to send the game into overtime.
Harris scored a career-high 31 points for the Titans (9-14, 1-7).
