MILWAUKEE, Minn. -- Akeem Springs scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Milwaukee to a 78-74 win over Detroit on Saturday.
Matt Tiby and Steve McWhorter added 16 points apiece for the Panthers (9-14, 4-5 Horizon League). Justin Jordan had 14.
Milwaukee led 35-33 at the break but a pair of 3-pointers by Juwan Howard Jr. and another by Anton Wilson early in the second half helped Detroit to a 47-42 lead. An 8-0 Milwaukee run followed to put the Panthers back on top, 50-47, with 12:44 to play. A Springs 3-pointer gave the Panthers a 67-57 lead with 5:06 remaining and Detroit responded with a 9-2 run to pull to within three, 69-66, before Milwaukee sealed the win with Springs and McWhorter combining for 6 of 10 from the line in the final minute.
Howard led the Titans (11-13, 4-5) with 18 points.
