Delaware hangs on against Northeastern, 73-68
BOSTON -- Maurice Jeffers scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting to help Delaware beat Northeastern 73-68 on Saturday.
Kory Holden had 15 points and six assists and Kyle Anderson added 12 points and six rebounds for Delaware (6-17, 5-7 Colonial Athletic Association), which won for just the second time on the road this season.
With the game tied at 40 with 11:13 left, the Blue Hens grabbed the lead for good with a 7-0 run capped by an Anderson 3-pointer. David Walker's 3 for Northeastern cut the lead to three with six seconds left, but a pair of Anderson free throws sealed the game for Delaware.
T.J. Williams scored 18 points to lead Northeastern (16-9, 8-4), which has lost four of its last five against the Blue Hens. Reggie Spencer had 14 and Walker added 13 for the Huskies.
