Elon upsets Northeastern 72-65

ELON, N.C. -- Elijah Bryant scored 16 points with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals and Elon upset Northeastern 72-65 on Thursday night.

Elon (13-17, 5-12 Colonial Athletic Association) shot 48 percent. Tanner Sampson had 13 points and Dmitri Thompson added 12.

Northeastern drew to within three on Scott Eatherton's layup with 5:35 to go. But Elon used a 7-2 spurt -- including Austin Hamilton's 3-pointer -- to push the lead to seven. David Walker's layup with 2:08 left made it a four-point game, but Elon made 9 of 12 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Huskies.

Northeastern (19-11, 11-6) was led by Eatherton's 20 points. Walker finished with 17 points and six assists.

Elon scored the last five points of the first half -- including a Hamilton 3-pointer -- and led 28-27 at the break.
