Northeastern beats Hofstra in 8 straight; wins 79-68
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Scott Eatherton scored a career-high 24 points to lead Northeastern to a 79-68 victory over Hofstra on Thursday night.
The Huskies (17-9, 9-4 Colonial Athletic Association) have beaten the Pride (16-10, 7-6) in eight straight games, and pull within a game of CAA leader William and Mary (16-8, 10-3).
Eatherton finished on 8-of-10 shooting, including 7 of 7 from the line, and grabbed nine rebounds as the Huskies outrebounded the Pride 33-17. David Walker scored 20 points and dished out a career-best eight assists for Northeastern. Quincy Ford had 15 points and T.J. Williams chipped in 11.
Northeastern led the entire second half. Hofstra pulled within 53-51 with 8:15 to play, but the Huskies answered with a 20-12 run to stretch their lead to 10 with 1:22 left.
Juan'ya Green scored 18 points and had 10 assists to lead Hofstra. Rokas Gustys added 13 points and Malik Nichols 12.
