John Davis leads Towson over Coppin State 84-76
TOWSON, Md. -- John Davis had a career-high 23 points and 14 rebounds to help Towson roll to an 84-76 victory over Coppin State on Wednesday night.
Eddie Keith II scored to give Towson a 79-58 lead with 3:58 to play. The Tigers were then 5 of 7 from the line to seal it.
Davis was 8 of 11 from the floor and 7 of 9 from the line, and has his third double-double of the season. Alex Gavrilovic scored 14 points with eight rebounds and Mike Morsell chipped in 12 points. Timajh Parker-Rivera also had eight boards for the Tigers (7-1), who out-rebounded the Eagles 49-32.
Sterling Smith scored 16 points, Van Rolle had 13 and Dallas Gary 12 for Coppin State (1-5). Taariq Cephas added 10 points with four assists for the Eagles, who closed on an 18-5 run in the final 3:30.
