TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- RaShid Gaston posted a double-double, scoring 26 points with a career-best 16 rebounds as Norfolk State snapped a three-game slide, routing winless Florida A&M 75-51 on Saturday night.
Gaston did it with 11-of-13 shooting from the field and grabbing 12 of his 16 rebounds off the defensive boards. Jeffrey Short added 21 points for the Spartans (10-8, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) and D'Shon Taylor had nine. The team hit 54.7 percent from the field overall, 47.6 percent from the line and sank 7 of 19 from 3-point territory.
Norfolk State ran up a 38-13 lead by halftime and never looked back, cruising to the win.
Florida A&M was 20 of 63 from the field overall and made just 2 of 19 attempts from distance.
Jorge Rosa led the Rattlers (0-15, 0-2) with 12 points and three steals.
