Delaware State holds on to beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 91-85
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Kendal Williams scored 22 points and led four players in double figures as Delaware State beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 91-85 on Saturday night.
Amere May scored 20 points, Tyshawn Bell hit five 3-pointers on his way to 19 points, and Kendall Gray chipped in 15 for Delaware State (12-13, 6-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which shot 50 percent from the floor and was 13 of 31 (42 percent) from beyond the arc.
Delaware State built a 44-36 halftime lead and never trailed. Maryland-Eastern Shore made four straight layups-three by Mike Myers- to pull within 87-85 with 58 seconds left. May answered with a layup and Bell made a pair of free throws to seal it for the Hornets.
Myers scored 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting and grabbed nine boards to lead Maryland-Eastern Shore (14-13, 7-5). Ryan Andino drained six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for the Hawks.
