NC Central gets MEAC title by beating Bethune-Cookman 72-49
DURHAM, N.C. -- Jordan Parks scored 20 points, Nimrod Hilliard 18 and North Carolina Central dominated the second half Saturday to defeat Bethune-Cookman 72-49 to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference outright title.
Karamo Jawara added 14 points and Dante Holmes 12 for the Eagles (22-6, 14-0), who led 35-31 at the half. Parks had nine rebounds and Hilliard seven assists as N.C. Central ran its home winning streak to 34, third longest in the nation behind Gonzaga and Arizona.
Denzel Dulin had 15 points and Ricky Johnson 10 for the Wildcats (10-19, 6-8), who shot 50 percent in the first half but made just 7 of 27 shots in the second, including 0 for 7 behind the arc.
The Eagles put together a 13-3 run to start the second half, capped by Hilliard's three-point play for a 48-36 lead at 15:38 and steadily pulled away.
