GRAMBLING, La. -- Ladarius Tabb scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Alabama A&M over Grambling State 70-66 on Saturday night in a Southwestern Athletic Conference regular-season finale.
Nicolas West added 17 points for the Bulldogs (9-19, 8-10), who made two fewer field goals than Grambling State but were 17 of 25 at the free-throw line while the Tigers were 10-of-16 shooting from the line.
Mark Gray scored 24 points for the Tigers (2-16, 0-18), who went winless in conference play and have lost 21 straight games. A'Torri Shine added 15 points and Richard Freeman 11.
Grambling State's last lead came in the game's first two minutes. The Bulldogs led by as many 12 with 7:40 left in the second half before the Tigers narrowed the gap.
Both teams will be in the field for the conference tournament. The tournament begins Tuesday in Houston.
