Burrell, Nichols lead Memphis past NC Central 81-47
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Trahson Burrell scored 15 points and Austin Nichols added 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots to lead Memphis past North Carolina Central 81-47 on Monday night.
Burrell and Nichols combined to make 10 of 19 field goals as Memphis (4-4) shot 51.7 percent (30 of 58) overall.
Shaq Goodwin scored 11 and grabbed eight rebounds and Nick King pulled down nine boards to help Memphis outrebound NC Central (6-5) 47-23.
Jeremiah Ingram led NC Central, which made just 14 of 47 (29.8 percent) -- including 1 of 15 from 3-point range -- with 11 points.
Nichols scored seven points in the first 6 minutes as Memphis jumped out to a 15-2 lead.
A 3 by Dante Holmes pulled the Eagles within nine, but a 22-4 Memphis run made it 37-10 with 2:42 left in the half and the Tigers led by as many as 39 after the break.
