3 double-doubles carry Canisius past Fairfield 72-65
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Josiah Heath was one of three players with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, and Canisius defeated Fairfield 72-65.
Kevin Bleeker had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Jamal Reynolds had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Griffins (16-13, 11-9 Metro Atlantic), who ended the regular season winning four of five games. The last time Canisius had three players with double-doubles in the same game was Nov. 22, 2004, against Howard. It was a career high in rebounds for Bleeker and points for Reynolds.
Marcus Gilbert hit a 3-pointer for Fairfield (7-22, 5-14) to make it 65-50 with 1:03 left but the Griffins hit 5 of 7 free throws in the last minute.
Tyler Nelson had 23 points, hitting four 3s, for Fairfield, which was outrebounded 41-24. Gilbert added 13 points.
