Sacred Heart turns back Fairleigh Dickinson 90-85
TEANECK, N.J. -- Evan Kelley made 11 of 14 shots to score 27 points and Tevin Falzon had 17 points and a career-high 19 rebounds to lead Sacred Heart to a 90-85 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday.
Cane Broome added 23 points, including a layup at 1:14 that gave the Pioneers (14-16, 8-9 Northeast Conference) an 87-83 lead. Kelley, who matched his season high in scoring and assists (six), followed with a layup at 22 seconds after two misses by the Knights (7-21, 2-15).
After two FDU free throws, Broome added a free throw with 10 seconds left to cap the highest-scoring game for the Pioneers since November of 2009.
Sacred Heart shot 61 percent, 69 percent in the second half (18 for 26) and had a 48-22 rebounding advantage but had difficulty shaking the Knights, who had just three turnovers.
Darian Anderson had 27 points and 11 assists for FDU and Mustafaa Jones had 18 points.
