Bucknell survives 1st-round scare, beats Holy Cross in OT
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Chris Hass tied a career high with 32 points, including a key basket that forced overtime, Thursday as top-seeded Bucknell escaped with a 90-83 victory over No. 8 seed Holy Cross in the opening round of the Patriot League tournament.
The Bison (19-13) scored the first six points of overtime and outscored Holy Cross 14-7 in the extra period to advance to the semifinals, hosting No. 4 seed Lafayette on Sunday.
Malcom Miller had 25 of his career-high 34 in the second half, including four three-point plays in a four-minute span late in the half that helped Holy Cross (14-16) turn a 13-point deficit at the 10-minute mark into a 76-73 lead with 35 seconds to go.
But it was Hass' three-point play with 25 seconds left and Miller's missed 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation that sent it to overtime.
Zach Thomas added 19 points for the Bison.
