Saint Joseph's overcomes Niagara in 73-62 win
PHILADELPHIA -- Isaiah Miles and Aaron Brown scored 14 points apiece Sunday to lead Saint Joseph's to a 73-62 win over Niagara in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off.
DeAndre Bembry and Pierfrancesco Oliva added 12 points each for the Hawks (2-0), who shot 44 percent from the field on 59 attempts. Oliva also grabbed eight rebounds and Bembry had seven assists.
Trailing 17-13 in the first half, Saint Joseph's took the lead with a 9-0 run that included one of Miles' two 3-pointers to make it 22-17 and carried a 34-28 advantage into the break. The Hawks then broke it open early in the second half with a 14-0 run fueled with four straight buckets from Bembry, who had been held scoreless in the first half.
Niagara (0-2) was led by Matt Scott, who scored 14 points and got 13 points from Justin Satchell, including a trio of 3-pointers.
