Northern Colorado comes on late to beat Southern Utah 90-80
CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Jordan Wilson scored 24 points and Jordan Davis 16 to help Northern Colorado to a 90-80 win over Southern Utah Thursday night, for its first road win in eight tries this season.
Wilson, a 5-foot-7 junior guard, extended his team-record streak of consecutive double-digit games to 19. He hit a 3-pointer to send the Bears into halftime trailing 36-34. Wilson and Jeremy Verhagen scored back-to-back baskets to kick off the second half with a 38-36 lead, and Davis converted a 3-point play to put Northern Colorado ahead 41-40, a lead they didn't lose.
Anthony Johnson scored 13 points with nine rebounds for Northern Colorado (6-13, 3-4 Big Sky). Verhagen scored 12 points, Ibrahim Sylla had 10.
Race Parsons and Trey Kennedy scored 19 points each for Southern Utah (4-12, 2-4).
Northern Colorado outrebounded the Thunderbirds 44-26, enjoying a 36-22 advantage on points in the paint and 9-1 on second-chance baskets.
