Neal's 26 points lead New Mexico past Fresno State, 77-62
FRESNO, Calif. -- Cullen Neal scored 26 points and New Mexico held Fresno State to 1-for-18 shooting from beyond the arc to post a 77-62 Mountain West Conference victory Saturday night.
New Mexico (9-6, 2-0) built a 44-27 lead in the first half. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 10 points on Cullen Russo' layup with 1:47 left, but could get no closer.
The Lobos held Nevada to 4-for-15 shooting from the outside in their conference opener. Fresno State's Marvelle Harris was the lone Bulldogs to hit from beyond the arc on eight tries.
The Lobos' point guard, Neal, son of coach Craig Neal, was 7 of 14 from the floor and 4 of 9 from deep while grabbing five rebounds with three assists.
Harris led Fresno State (10-5, 1-1) with 15 points. Russo and Julien Lewis each added 12 points off the bench and Karachi Edo contributed 11.
