Holmes leads North Carolina Central over Florida A&M 79-74
DURHAM, N.C. -- Dante Holmes made five 3-pointers and finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds to help North Carolina Central beat Florida A&M 79-74 on Monday night.
Francois Lewis' tip-in with 10 seconds left closed Florida A&M to within 77-74 and Patrick Cole made a pair of free throws for the Eagles (10-15, 5-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) to cap the scoring with 9 seconds left. NCCU made 7 of 8 from the foul line in the final minute.
Kyle Benton added 12 points for NC Central. He had a 3-pointer and pair of free throws during an 8-0 run that made it 71-54 with 4:51 left.
Malcolm Bernard had 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Rattlers (7-17, 3-8). Florida A&M had its last lead at 9-8 but tied it at 14, 16, 26 and 33.
Justin Ravenel added 13 points and Craig Bowman scored 11.
