George Washington cruises to 94-65 win over Gardner-Webb
WASHINGTON -- Tyler Cavanaugh scored 20 points with seven rebounds while Yuta Watanabe hit three 3-pointers and finished with 19 points to help George Washington cruise to a 94-65 win over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday.
Patricio Garino made 7 of 8 field goals and added 16 points for George Washington (5-0). Kevin Larsen and Matt Hart scored 12 points apiece.
Cavanaugh's 3-pointer fewer than five minutes into the game gave the Colonials their first double-digit lead and his layup with 9:20 left in the first half pushed the lead over 20, to 35-14. Gardner-Webb (1-4) would get no closer.
George Washington made 31 of 57 (54 percent) field goals, including 10 of 21 from 3-point range, and outrebounded the Bulldogs 43-27.
Adonis Burbage hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points while David Efianayi added 11 points for Gardner-Webb.
