UTEP rallies to dump Western Kentucky 93-89 in OT
EL PASO, Texas -- Earvin Morris scored a career-high 32 points and Texas-El Paso rallied past Western Kentucky 93-89 in overtime on Saturday.
Lee Moore, who finished with 23 points for UTEP (13-11, 5-6 Conference USA), got a 3-point play with 26 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 77.
Western Kentucky's Fredrick Edmond hit two free throws with 8:47 left to give the Hilltoppers their largest lead of the game at 70-51. But UTEP proceeded to outscore Western Kentucky 26-7 to force overtime. UTEP shot 8 for 16 from the field while the Hilltoppers went 1 for 13 during the stretch.
Morris, Moore and Omega Harris scored 25 of UTEP's 26 points during the rally.
In overtime, Morris started with a dunk, layup and 3-point play and UTEP never trailed. Morris scored 12 of the Miners 16 points in overtime.
Fredrick Edmond led Western Kentucky (12-12, 4-7) with 24 points and 14 rebounds, Justin Johnson had 15 and 12 and Aaron Cosby had 22 points.
